Sermorelin: an Effective Alternative for Human Growth Hormone?

Why Sermorelin peptide Is Preferred to Growth Hormone?

Sermorelin, a member of the peptide group known as the Growth Hormone-Releasing Hormone Analogues, has shown its contribution to improving wound healing, appetite, boosting bone density, fighting the aging effects, and maintaining the Growth Hormone (HGH) levels in old age. It is a versatile peptide with a low cost, is easy to produce, and has a safe profile. It is an ideal peptide for researchers, especially working in domains related to HGH and anti-aging, and has been approved as a testing reagent for use in humans. The reasons why this is considered an interesting peptide are mentioned below.

HGH has been used as a treatment for growth hormone deficiency & the ability to administer exogenous HGH is considered one of the biggest advances in human medicine.
Although there have been advances in the production methods of HGH, several risks are still associated with its use in therapy. Side effects associated with HGH include joint pains, increased risk of diabetes, swelling in joints, and increased risks of some types of cancer.
The reason behind the side effects associated with the exogenous administration of HGH is because it dissolves the normal physiological feedback mechanisms. Two things happen due to the interruption of the normal controls on the secretion of HGH. First, there is a much more abrupt rise and fall in the HGH levels, affecting the response of organs and tissues to the peptides and elevating the risks associated with HGH high levels. This phenomenon is known as square-wave physiology.

The second reason associated with the side effects is the suppression of feedback mechanisms due to high HGH levels, which destroy the normal 24 hours pattern of HGH secretion.
Sermorelin peptide use mitigates both the problems associated with exogenous administration of HGH. Sermorelin acetate is subjected to normal physiologic feedback mechanisms, and thereby, the normal patterns of HGH secretion are maintained. Sermorelin peptide maintains the normal pattern and, at the same time, boosts the HGH set point.

Another reason for preferring Sermorelin acetate over HGH is that with time, the body often acquires resistance to HGH, and hence the effect of the peptide is reduced or lost. This phenomenon results from the decrease in the number of receptors for a given ligand and is known as tachyphylaxis. Too much HGH administered over a prolonged period of time results in adecrease in the number of HGH receptors in the body, which finishes the effect of HGH. The only way to overcome this effect is by halting the substance’s administration to allow the recovery of the receptors, for which the therapeutic benefits of the peptide will no longer be available.

Research studies have shown that Sermorelin peptide is not subjected to tachyphylaxis; its administration increases GHRH-Rs.

Sermorelin peptide and Body Composition

Sermorelin acetate favors lean body mass over fat mass, which shows the effect of peptides in encouraging bone growth and muscle growth over the deposition of fat. Hypogonadism is particularly problematic in men who experience increased effects of lack of sex hormones. Sermorelin peptide acetate is also explored for reversing muscle atrophy other than testosterone, which is considered the gold standard of treatment in hypogonadism.

Sermorelin peptide Boosts Wound Healing

Sermorelin peptide has been shown to have positive effects on wound healing rates. Sermorelin peptide can also help in reducing scar formation. Scars leading to wound healing can cause tissue- and organ-level dysfunction. Alleviation of scarring while still promoting wound healing is an achievement in medicine.

Scarring of the heart is troublesome since the scars in cardiac tissue interfere with the heart’s ability to conduct electrical impulses and contract efficiently and correctly. Some research studies in rat models have shown sermorelin’s potential to protect heart cells from death, improve blood vessel growth, increase the production of extracellular matrix components, and reduce inflammatory cytokine levels. All of these factors reduce the size of scars following cardiac injury, which thereby improves cardiac functioning.

Cost of Sermorelin peptide Acetate

Although the cost of Sermorelin peptide is not influencing science, it is still of huge consideration. Once the research reaches the stage of clinical trials, it is inexpensive.

As compared to HGH, Sermorelin peptide acetate is extremely inexpensive. Sermorelin peptide is very easily produced using recombinant technology. Since Sermorelin peptide is not under patent, its cost is considerably lesser than HGH and other HGH secretagogues. Sermorelin peptide costs less than $200 per month, where the cost of HGH is approximately $1500. Since the cost of Sermorelin peptide acetate is approximately seven and a half times lesser than HGH, it can be potentially used in research studies to replace HGH.
