What Is KPV Peptide?

KPV is the newest immunomodulating peptide to have emerged as a result of the ongoing research on peptides and their uses. It is a peptide found in the body as a part of the hormone alpha-MSH. This C-terminal peptide derivative of the alpha-MSH has been tested for its photoprotective properties, owing to which it can protect against ischemia, inflammation, and hypoxic injuries. It is also said to have benefits in feeding and energy homeostasis mechanisms. The KPV peptide is made up of lysine-proline-valine subunits and is said to be an extremely potent anti-inflammatory.

KPV peptide inactivates the inflammatory pathways inside the cells by directly interacting with the inflammatory signaling molecules that mediate the inflammatory response. It usually enters the nucleus, inactivates, and stops the inflammatory processes.

Some ongoing research on the KPV peptide revealed that in addition to its anti-inflammatory effects, it also has some anti-microbial activity.
This anti-microbial activity is against two particular microbes. These pathogens are Staphylococcus Aureus and Candida Albicans. Studies showed that KPV peptide use significantly inhibited the growth of S.aureus into colonies.

Its anti-inflammatory and anti-microbial activity make it a potent agent in combating these pathogens and wound healing.

KPV Peptide In Wound Healing And Skin

Ongoing research has shown that KPV peptide accelerates wound healing by reducing infection (anti-microbial) and fighting inflammation (anti-inflammatory).
